About Ana Rukavina Foundation

Ana Rukavina Erceg (1977-2006)

Ana, like all of us, had many different roles in her life, she loved her job and took pleasure in the power of the written word sharing her thoughts with the public and turning the public's attention to important questions. One thing she didn't like to talk about was herself.

That is why we are sharing with all of you some of the stories that she wrote herself, and a few stories about her told by her friends, which will help you understand what she was like.

Tonči's story about Ana

Ana, you give me strength to live life to the fullest. Every day will be in honour of you and your courage.
Ana, I've become more human by knowing you.

Marina's story about Ana

I never met Ana in person, but that doesn't mean I did not know her. A part of her will always remain in the people who loved her, and whom she loved. She will live on through their actions. The day after the photo auction, I joined in to help organize the concert and I met some amazing people who were working to make Ana's dreams come true. more »

Marijana's story about Ana

"My dear, this too shall pass. The only thing I'll remember from this ordeal is how much I craved a really good meal. Honestly, that's the only thing I've been thinking about in this hospital and I guess that's why I've been doing so well." These were Ana's words after another chemotherapy session in mid 2005, after she had ended up in the hospital and found out the grim diagnosis.  more »

Nataša's story about Ana

Ana loved all sports, whether it was handball or skiing or ultimate fighting. Along with her husband, a passionate sports fan and walking encyclopaedia, she followed all sporting events, and almost always cried when Janica or Ivanišević won.  more »
